Six years ago, four siblings—Mary, Christine, Robert, and little Stephen—faced a heartbreaking loss: the passing of their mother, who was their only support and source of love. With no family

Located in the serene village of Kimagandura in Nanyuki, Laikipia County, Great Hope Children Home is more than just a shelter — it’s a family. We open our doors and hearts to vulnerable and needy children, creating a warm and nurturing home where they can grow, learn, and dream again.
Community – We foster strong ties with our local community through outreach and participation.
is central to everything we do—we mentor, disciple, and grow together in Christ
We offer more than shelter—we create family and belonging.
We integrate education, responsibility, and life skills into everyday routines.
Children are involved in self-sustaining projects that teach work ethic, build confidence, and help run the home.
Behind every smile at Great Hope is a powerful story of resilience and transformation. From children who had no one to call family to those who now thrive in school and projects, each child is writing a new chapter—one of hope and potential. Come, meet our children, hear their stories, and see the impact love and opportunity can make..
We provide daily meals and ensure every child has access to education—both formal schooling and practical learning at home.
Children participate in raising poultry as a learning tool and income generator. They learn responsibility, animal care, and the basics of business through this hands-on project.
We have a vegetable garden that not only feeds the children but also teaches them agricultural skills. This project encourages sustainability and food security.
We currently have two cows that provide milk for the children. Surplus milk is sold in the community, and the income helps support the home. The children are involved in daily care and learn about animal husbandry.
Our children create beautiful handmade items, including beadwork and crafts. These are sold in our Gift Shop, and the proceeds go back into supporting the home while giving the kids a sense of pride and creativity.
This is a mentorship and discipleship initiative for the youth in the community. Through God’s Word, life skills training, and guidance, we help young people see a new path—a hopeful one. Camp Hope has become a platform of transformation for both our children and others in the area.

Paul, John’s eldest son, is now the Director of Great Hope Children’s Home. While currently serving in the Royal Navy in the UK, he continues to lead the home with deep commitment and a strong sense of purpose. Since taking over in 2014 , Paul has worked closely with the team in Kenya to ensure that the children receive consistent care, education, and spiritual support. Under his leadership, the home has expanded its outreach, introduced new youth programs like Camp Hope, and strengthened its long-term vision for sustainability. Paul believes that every child deserves not just shelter but a future — and he is committed to building that future together with partners around the world.
Carrying the Vision Forward As their child, I witnessed this love firsthand. I grew up not just in a house, but in a home filled with purpose and care for others. Watching my parents give everything they had for children who were not their own shaped my heart forever. Years later, I felt called to walk in their footsteps—and take the vision further.
I took the foundation they had laid and, through prayer, hard work, and the support of faithful friends, began building Great Hope into what it is today: a fully registered national charity, a structured home where children thrive in education, faith, and emotional healing. I have introduced programs like Camp Hope, expanded the home’s reach, and made it more self-sustaining—all while honoring the spirit of my parents’ original mission.
Now, children who once had no future are going to school, dreaming big, and growing in a place where they are safe and loved. What began with two parents sharing a meal has become a movement of restoration and transformation—and it’s only the beginning
